CSI Project Reflection
Over the past three weeks in Biology we had been working on a project where we were given an investigation and we had to figure out how the victim had died. In order to find out how the victim had we died had to go through the 4 steps of DNA processing. We had done molds of footprints and tire tracks to find out if they were hit by a car or not. The victim had been extremely intoxicated and wandering around the Animas High School parking lot and was hit by a car. The car was later found in the lot with a blood stain above the back wheel. We had also created posters explaining the process and how the victim died.
Cat Dissection
Over the course of about a week, we had been working on dissecting a cat for biology. To start out, we had to skin the bottom of the cat and remove as much hair as we could, and then we were to open it up using a scalpel. After the cat was opened we were to go through and find different organs that were inside the cat. For the end of the project, we were to create a video of ourselves in which we were going through the cat and identifying different muscles and organs.
Community Connection
For my community connection, I had gone around Durango with a group of students and we had helped out at several gardens located around town, this includes Needham and Riverview elementary, and the local soup kitchen. We had mainly been helping plant vegetables around the gardens and building garden beds for the plants. I had also helped build a sink that would be used to clean vegetables.
Primate Meal Project
For this project we had created meals that were mainly designed for primates. We were to create a meal that was healthy for the primates in the facility that we were sending the recipes to.
